A documentary project by Jamshid Golmakani

Being an Iranian journalist-director in exile in France since 1982 I present this project which is a summary of my PhD in Sorbonne University / Paris. The through of my research I give an account of the contemporary history of Iran, and study how this issue is dealt with in reports, news programmes of over 13 minutes broadcast on French television between 1978 and 2003. This research underlines the difference cultural that gives to French people a privileged position in comparison with the countries less economically developing, in particular with Iranians, in the films broadcast on French television. All the films tend to define Iran as the epicentre of Islam, by showing images that shock. The Iranian population is shown only at the Friday prayer or in the Tehran cemetery. The eight years war between Iran and Iraq has given the journalists-producers a good opportunity to evoke in their films the fanaticism of the Iranians. This research reveals some realities concerning this very bloody war hitherto unknown to the western public on.
