We Love You wins Best Documentary at LA Shorts Fest
Academy Award-Nominated® production company, New Jersey Films, adds win to accolade rich filmography.
LOS ANGELES (Aug. 4, 2009) – We Love You, the documentary that shines a light on the often
mischaracterized annual Rainbow Gatherings and their run ins with federal agents, has won the Best Documentary prize at the 13th Annual LA Shorts Fest. Jonathan Kalafer, the film’s director said of the win which was the first public screening of the documentary, “I feel very honored to win this award, the programming at the festival was top notch and L.A. audiences know cinema.” Kalafer also served as producer for the 40 minute documentary alongside his father Steve Kalafer (Sister Rose’s Passion, The Diary of Immaculee).
The film, We Love You is centered upon the 38th annual Rainbow Gathering, using both firsthand accounts and stories from participants as well as archival footage dating back to the 1972 inception of the Utopian city.
