Palm Springs – June 25, 2017— Today, the Cinema Without Borders jury members  named PANTHEON (France), directed by Ange-Régis Hounkpatin, as the winner of HP’s 2017 Bridging the Borders Award, presented by Cinema Without Borders at the Palm Springs International ShortFest.

This year's festival was held at Palm Springs’ Camelot Theatre. The Editor-in-Chief of CWB, Bijan Tehrani, and filmmaker, jury member Susan Morgan Cooper presented the award for this year's HP Bridging the Borders winner. The winner  received  a HP ZBook 15 Mobile Workstation. An approximate $2500 value awarded from our generous sponsors.

The 12 nominees for the 2016 HP's Bridging The Borders Award were: Eyes of Exodus (USA/Greece), Facing Mecca (Switzerland), Facing the Wall (Israel), Love the Sinner (USA), NORTH (Spain), PANTHEON (France), Pria (Indonesia/USA), Spice Sisters (Australia), Towards the Sun (U.K./USA), THE TRANSFER (Germany/Israel), The Wait (USA/Mexico) and The World In Your Window (New Zealand).

"HP Bridging The Borders Award offered by Cinema Without Borders goes to a film that is most successful in bridging and connecting the people of our world closer together. For 2017 we had twelve brilliant films from eleven countries.

The winner of the 2017 HP Bridging The Borders Award is a film that has masterfully used the language of cinema to tell the story of a young immigrant, removed from this own culture, and a friend who helps him bridge the past and discover his ancestral soul. The winner is the French film, Pantheon directed by Ange-Régis Hounkpatin"
