Samsung has installed the world’s first 3D Cinema LED screen at the Arena Sihlcity cinema complex in Zurich, Switzerland. Samsung has already installed 2D versions of the Cinema LED screen in movie theatres in Seoul, Shanghai and South Korea, but the screen in Zurich is the first example of a 3D version. The screen, which measures 10.2 metres wide x 5.4 metres high, replaces the traditional projector, bringing with it several perks. Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh is usually known for making slick Hollywood fare like Erin Brockovich and Ocean’s Eleven, but for his latest movie, the horror-thriller Unsane, the acclaimed filmmaker has opted to shoot the entire thing using iPhones. Now, the first official trailer for Unsane has arrived — and it looks just as professional as the director’s other recent films, like Side Effects and Haywire. LONDON—As a filmmaker and videographer, I have the privilege of telling stories through the eye of a camera lens, but you never know what to expect from project to project. On “The Last Highland Tiger,” Director Katie Wardle and I came across the story of the Scottish Wildcat, which, through persecution and mismanagement, is on the brink of extinction. This film was aimed at informing and educating the public about this rare and beautiful animal. To capture footage of the Wildcat in its natural environment, we made 14-15 hour-a-day treks into Scotland’s rugged mountains and dense woodlands. With up to…

Back in early fall 2014, I was shown my first virtual reality experience on a Samsung Gear VR developer kit. I was so overwhelmed and excited by the possibilities of what I just seen that I basically dropped everything I was doing in the film business (pretty much on the spot) and launched UNLTD VR, an immersive content and technology company. As a 20+ year film and TV content producer and distributor, my goal was simple: create ground-breaking cinematic immersive content that would compete with anything a Hollywood blockbuster has to offer. What I’ve learned along the way is that…
