Academy Award winner and three time nominee RENÉE ZELLWEGER will be coming to Karlovy Vary to introduce Miss Potter.
Cold Mountain, Chicago, and Bridget Jones’s Diary are among the films that have attained success with both the public and film critics alike thanks primarily to Renée Zellweger’s outstanding performances.

After appearing in several television projects, Zellweger, who graduated from the University of Texas with a literature degree, she made her film debut in 1993 in Richard Linklater’s coming-of-age film Dazed and Confused. Just a year later she drew attention in Ben Stiller’s Reality Bites. Her other film credits include Me, Myself & Irene (with Jim Carrey), Nurse Betty (with Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock), Bridget Jones’s Diary, and Chicago. For her outstanding performances in the latter two she was nominated for the Academy Award.

Zellweger showed the breadth of her acting talent across genres in the sports romance Jerry Maguire with Tom Cruise, the boxing drama Cinderella Man (with Russell Crowe), and particularly in the romantic drama set during the days of the American Civil War, Anthony Minghella’s Cold Mountain. For her role of the colorful character Ruby Thewes, Renée Zellweger was awarded not only her third Golden Globe (after Nurse Betty and Chicago), but most importantly her first Oscar.

At this year’s Karlovy Vary IFF, Renée Zellweger will personally present the biographical film Miss Potter, in which she gives a riveting performance in the title role, an author of popular books for children at the turn of the 20th century Beatrix Potter. The film has meant another Golden Globe nomination for one of the most outstanding actresses of today.
