The ACE Eddie awards honor those wonderfully creative Editors whose work in the past year have been of the utmost excellence. You could not find a more talented group of honored nominees. Norman Jewison was honored with a Golden Eddie for his body of work as one of the most successful Directors in Cinema. Norman’s films have 46 Academy Award nominations and twelve wins. A few of his notable films are Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar, Agnes of God, Moonstruck, and The Hurricane. The ACE Eddie Career Achievement Award honors went to Millie Moore for her brilliant body of work including Go Tell the Spartans, To Heal A Nation, and Johnny Got His Gun; and Bud Smith (Director and Editor) for his spectacular body of work including The Exorcist, The Karate Kid and The Sting.
Brilliant Patton Oswalt was the host for the Eddie Awards. I am sure many of you remember him as the adorable rat from PIXAR’s Ratatouille. Patton’s cutting edge humor was a refreshing touch to the atmosphere. I never laughed so hard. Several celebrities made appearances as presenters. Anton Yelchin, Academy Award nominee Hal Holbrook (Into the Wild), Carl Reiner (The Dick Van Dyke Show), Bonnie Hunt, Director William Friedkin (The Exorcist), and Michael Moore (Sicko). The entire awards ceremony and presentation went off without a hitch. The highlight of the awards was the nominees and winners.

I want to thank Avid’s Jennifer Rosenberg and Doug Price for inviting me to the Eddie Awards. It was an eye opening experience. It was nice to see first hand Avid’s involvement and support throughout the entertainment industry. It helps you to realize that purchasing software is not just about the engineering but also about the people behind the product.
