Fatal Distraction has reached the No. 1 spot among documentaries on Amazon, bringing renewed attention to one of the most controversial criminal cases in recent American history.
The documentary examines the widely publicized Georgia murder trial of Justin Ross Harris, who was convicted in connection with the 2014 hot-car death of his 22-month-old son. Harris was originally found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
At the time of its production, many believed the project would face overwhelming public resistance. Media coverage of the case had been intense, with Harris widely portrayed as a villain long before the legal process had fully run its course. Despite the prevailing public narrative, the filmmakers chose to explore the case from a different perspective, including extensive interviews with Harris’s wife, Leanna Taylor.
