Remember the first time someone read to you? The magic of hearing stories come to life through the voice of a close family member or friend. Or maybe the first time you read to your son or daughter. I’m sure that moment has to be up there with first steps, first words and first day of school. That was our inspiration. Bringing people together to help them create a memory that would last a lifetime.Remember the first time someone read to you? Windballast is an upstart indie publisher with a flair for the uncommon story. Currently, we need your support to make our first run of prints a reality. You’ll find illustrated stories that celebrate the timeless wisdom of nature, probe the dark truths of our nation’s past, reveal your future in a whole new light, and a comedy that teach the perils of hanging out with hipsters.
Working with Cinema Without Borders has taught me the power of the independents. From Palm Springs to the Los Angeles Polish Film Festival, the passion and the heralding of new artistic voices is unrivaled anywhere in the mainstream. When we find a story we love, we will share with all those around us because in a way, we want to bring them and ourselves back to that same primordial magic from when we were young.
Take a moment today to visit Windballast’s Kickstarter and check out our stories:
• “Everything Rots” – a poetic and scientific exploration of the world of Mushrooms, celebrating the essential roles they provide to our ecosystem.
• “Shitty Presidents” – a pictorial journey through American hypocrisy that reveals the real facts of horrible things each presidents has done while in office.
• “The Spirit Above The Waters” – a collection of science fiction poems exploring the infinitely inspiring, yet horrifying, possibilities that our futures hold.
• “If You Give A Hipster Coffee” – the cycle of requests a hipster is likely to make after you give him a cup of coffee.
The most important thing for us is that we are able to share our work with as many people as possible, which is why you will receive any one of these stories for free when you share our Kickstarter page.
