On Wednesday, August 13, and Thursday, August 14, TripAdvisor will host free outdoor film screenings at the Huntington Beach Pier. On August 13, the 1953 film classic Roman Holiday, starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck, will be shown. On August 14, a screening of the 1987 comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles, starring Steve Martin and John Candy, will be held. The movies start at sundown, however, guests are invited to arrive starting at 6 p.m. to secure a great spot.

These events are part of TripAdvisor’s Traveling Movie Tour, a free outdoor film festival that is visiting prominent outdoor venues in five U.S. cities – which started in New York City on July 29.

The Los Angeles area venue is the world famous Huntington Beach City Pier, 400 Pacific Coast Highway at the intersection of Main Street. The municipal pier is the focal point of Huntington Beach. Stretching more than 1,800 feet into the ocean, it is the perfect place to view the coastline and an evening movie.

Take a movie vacation for a night – and don’t forget your suitcase!

TripAdvisor has teamed up with national charity partner Suitcases For Kids and will be collecting donations of new and gently worn suitcases, backpacks, duffel bags and diaper carriers at the festival. In Los Angeles, TripAdvisor is working with local charity partner Penny Lane to deliver the luggage donations to area foster children.

TripAdvisor encourages all guests to “pack a bag and leave it behind” … fill up a bag with treats to enjoy during the movie (popcorn, candy and soft drinks) and then leave the bag behind after the show.

After dropping off a bag for Suitcases For Kids, festival attendees should stop by the TripAdvisor tent to enter for a chance to win a Roman getaway. As part of the five-city movie festival, TripAdvisor is giving away one trip for two to Rome, Italy.
