On November 15th, Butterfly Buzz will present the premiere collaboration of Israeli singer, Yasmin Levy, together with three Iranian guest artists Faramarz Aslani, Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam and Hamed Nikpay at The Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA, a delicately restored 1920’s movie palace originated by Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin in the heart of historic downtown Los Angeles.

To learn more about this event we had an interview with Bita Milanian, The Executive Produce of Art Unites event.

Yasmin Levy is an internationally celebrated singer-songwriter, deeply steeped in the traditions of Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) music, a disappearing musical legacy of the Sephardic Jewish communities driven from Spain in the late 15th century. Her unique style includes a wide range of influences with flavors of Flamenco, Turkish and Persian music. She credits her eclectic musical stylings to growing up in Jerusalem, a melting pot of people, cultures, and religions.

“I admire the vision in fostering unity and friendship through the loving language of art and music,” said Susan Azizzadeh, president of the Iranian American Jewish Federation. “Yasmin Levy is an incredible singer, combining Sephardic melodies and regional music of North Africa. Kudos for bringing this true musical Diva to the Los Angeles community, while having masters of Persian music and dance as her collaborators.”
Joining Yasmin Levy on stage is the acclaimed singer, songwriter and producer, Faramarz Aslani; renowned director, choreographer, dancer, actor and costume designer, Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam; and the celebrated fusion vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and song writer, Hamed Nikpay; each performing individually as a showcased guest artist alongside of Yasmin Levy.

“Music transcends geographical divides, language barriers and cultural preconceptions through resonating with all the virtues that define us as human beings and make us part of a whole,” said Pouria Abbassi, board member of Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans/IA100 and Beyond Vision Music Foundation. “By coming together and sharing their talents with the Los Angeles community, these four virtuoso artists further validate our collective hope for a world where our differences bring us together and not drive us apart.”

This one-night only engagement in Los Angeles will mark the grand finale of Yasmin Levy’s 2017 North American tour:
